My friend Peter is the man behind Red cycles, and I’m seriously impressed with the work he’s turning out. Until now I’ve only heard of his bicycle creations, so when his new website popped up I had to share. Reasonably priced hand made bikes exist, and they’re fucking awesome!

somewhere in the depths of California we met a girl named Michelle, and then we lost her, and then somehow we met again. We spent a bunch of miles with her eating her mysteriously large supply of Cliff bars, and keeping the dirt bag bike tour alive. This is her blog, you should probably check it out and read her frequent and interesting tour logs. RIGHT HERE

Photos Photos Photos

I finally have a computer, so here are some photos from random parts of the trip you can check out. Give me some time to get some video footage up, it will be very soon! Also if we met you along the way, and you have photos of us you want to share send them my way!

Check them all out RIGHT HERE

Thanks Vanessa! This is us flying the California flag proud. We kept seeing road riders with California Republic jerseys that were so cool, but we couldn’t find any shops that had them.

San Diego and the end

The trip is finally nearing an end. After 31 days of riding and living in a tent we’ve arrived in San Diego. Well be riding into Tijuana tomorrow and back to San Diego to fly home to Canada. I feel like I have so many stories that I don’t even know where to start, so when I get home I’ll be starting from the begining and posting up some tales of adventure and debouchery along with photos and video. Touring the coast fixed gear has been way harder and way more fun than we could have expected. Most people we met either thought we were crazy or amazing, and I’m really leaning more towards the crazy side. It’s all been worth it though, and i think everyone should get on their bikes, grab a tent, and ride somewhere. Thanks to everyone who has helped us, rode with us, and partied with us along the way, you know who you are. Keep checking back for all the goods of the trip as I get them up!

Santa barbara

Were in Santa Barbara right now, about 4 days away from the end of the trip. We’ve met tons of other bike tourers along the way and have been riding with various people over the past few days. Big shout out to Jameson and laurel for the good times and space bag slapping along the way!

Big sur

Big sur was probably the most beautiful and painful part of the trip so far. The hills from Monterey all the way to Cambria were difficult for those on
touring bikes, so you can imagine the time we had
passing through this area. Topher got pushed off the road by an rv coming down one of the big hills and had a good bail. Somehow he managed to break his bontrager seatpost in half too.

Santa Cruz 2.0

On the road a few days ago we met a man by the name of Josh who runs a company called Frances cycles. He was kind enough to let us stay at his place in Santa Cruz and give us some direction on our route. You can check out his great frame building work and custom cargo bikes at www. Francescycles.com

Santa cruz

Well be in Santa Cruz tonight. Riding has been chill but we have big sur in a few days, more big mountains that were not looking forward too. It feels good to be out of the city and back in the tent camping though. San Fran was a shock to the systm after being in the wilderness for 20 days.

This is at the bottom side of a notorious 2000ft. climb on the...

This is at the bottom side of a notorious 2000ft. climb on the Pacific Coast Bike Route called Legget Hill. Somehow we managed to ride the steep switchbacks to the top, and not die coming down the other side. We noticed that Mash and Mellow Johnnys left their mark after the hill, so we thought it was appropriate to leave ours right below!

San Fran!

We’ve finally made it to San Fran, and have access to computers, so we’ll be throwing up some stories and photos and all that good stuff tomorrow. On that note, we’re at a hostel tonight, but we’re poor, so if you live in San Fran and maybe have a couch, or patch of grass, or floor that we could occupy for a night or so, let me know, it would be greatly appreciated. You can email me at mchurchill88@gmail.com and i’ll be able to get it! Anyways, like I said, check back in a day or two for photos and stories!

Fort bragg

More hills more hills, but were over the biggest one of the trip! In fort Bragg tonight, a few days until San Fran.

Hills hills hills

Standish hickey mountain today. A solid day and half of uphill. Were camping halfway up tonight. Biggest hill of the trip 2000 feet of climbing. Finally in california. The trip is taking way less time than expected. Once we hit San Fran well get some video and photos up. I’ll keep updating when I can to keep everyone on the know. Trip has been unreal though, met some crazy people and seen some crazy things. I’ll elaborate more when I can!

Oregon update

Were in charelston Oregon right now, done some way way long days and big hills. Were super tired but still pushing, should be in California in 2 days! Were switching onto the 1 highway in Cali to stay on the coast. Haven’t hit an actual computer yet so hold tight for stories and photos, sorry!

Going to Portland!

Were going to Portland tonight to have some fun away from the trip for a few days. We want to do some good riding and are looking for a couch to crash on maybe, so if you feel you fit these categories let us know! You can email us through here and we can track you down!

Washington update

Were in the ass end of Washington right now and there’s not much here but oysters. Tomorrow well be in astoria Oregon and then maybe off to Portland so if your in the area let’s hook up! We’ve been riding steady for 5 days now and have managed to clear one state. Updating on an iPod is tough so I’ll leave it at that! Look back for some stories and video in the next few days once we hit civilization again.

Kelowna has been good to us, but I fear if we spend any longer...

Kelowna has been good to us, but I fear if we spend any longer here we won’t ever leave. We’re off to Vancouver this afternoon, so if you want to ride, get in touch with us! The song in the video is by Beach Fossils, and big thanks to our friends Alex and Rory for hooking us up and showing us around!

After a long daunting bus ride from Calgary we have finally arrived in the glory land that is Kelowna. The scene here is much like one you would see watching an episode of Jersey Shore. Kelowna seems to be the place that every UFC watching Ed Hardy wearing meat head flocks to for the summer. It’s a shame really because this place is beautiful. Though it’s pretty easy to see past the testosterone when your on a giant lake surrounded by mountains. It feels like we’re on permanent vacation now, nothing to do but ride bikes and enjoy the sun. Our good friend Alex has taken us in as temporary roommates until we head off to Vancouver. I’m pretty sure we’ve only been here a few days, but the days have all been stringing together and it feels like we’ve been gone forever. Anyways, the video is of a fun place called Paul’s Tomb, Topher’s first time cliff jumping!
